We had a small set of 4 beams that seemed like sisters in color and format, and we decided to keep them together. We were limited by the total length that they offered us to make a cross-style base, so this is the final design we came upon. The beams were very thick and we wanted to leave them that way, so we opted for a curvilinear geometry that lightened their roughness a bit.
The structure is also removable for transport.
To improve the superficial aesthetics of the parts that were deteriorated, we patched teh more damaged areas with old wood and filled nail cavities and cracks with resin. We finish it with 2 coats of a very natural hard wax oil that enhances the color of the wood when viewed through the elegant laminated glass top.
